An ESA provides support through its presence. An ESA housing letter may document a disability-related need when the provider’s evaluation supports it.

Psychiatric Service Dog evaluation

A PSD evaluation reviews symptoms, functional needs and disability-related tasks. An ESA letter or PSD letter does not certify the dog or replace individual task training.

THE PROCESS

Three steps, with room for questions.

01

Request an ESA or PSD evaluation

The application asks whether you are seeking an ESA housing letter or a PSD evaluation; the provider decides whether an ESA letter or PSD letter is clinically appropriate. A legitimate evaluation includes an individual clinical review by a Texas-licensed provider. Review the fee and decide whether to continue; applying does not guarantee an ESA letter or PSD letter.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Clinical judgment stays with your provider.

Payment covers the provider’s professional evaluation. Documentation is not guaranteed. Review the applicable refund terms in the secure application before paying. An accommodation decision belongs to the housing provider and depends on the applicable rules and facts.

HOUSING SUPPORT

What an ESA housing evaluation considers

An emotional support animal can provide disability-related support through its presence. A housing evaluation gives a Texas-licensed mental health professional a chance to understand the person’s circumstances, functional needs, housing concern and the role of the animal. The provider decides independently whether an ESA letter is clinically appropriate.

If issued, an ESA letter is intended to support an accommodation request for housing. It is not an animal registration, a certificate of training or a promise that a landlord will approve a request. The housing provider reviews the request and any reliable supporting information under the requirements that apply to the property and situation.

If a property has its own accommodation form or asks for administrative verification, share the request through the secure application so the team can understand what is being requested. Only information relevant to the evaluation or verification should be shared.

TASK-BASED SUPPORT

How a PSD evaluation differs

A psychiatric service dog is a dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks related to a person’s disability. A PSD evaluation may address symptoms, day-to-day functioning and the tasks the dog performs or is being trained to perform. A PSD letter does not train, test, certify or register a dog.

The ADA service-animal standard concerns trained work or tasks and access to covered public places. Housing requests follow a different set of rules. An ESA letter or PSD letter prepared for housing should not be presented as a general public-access pass, and an ESA letter does not turn an animal into an ADA service dog.

When you are unsure which path fits your question, contact the team with general questions before choosing. The provider, not the sales or support team, makes the clinical determination.

DOCUMENTATION & FOLLOW-UP

What is included after an evaluation

A paid evaluation includes an individual review by a Texas-licensed provider. When the provider determines documentation is clinically appropriate, the service includes preparation and secure delivery of the applicable provider-issued ESA letter or PSD letter. Eligible housing forms and administrative clarification or verification support are handled according to the selected option and current service terms.

Optional companion certificates or IDs are available only after an ESA letter or PSD letter from the provider has been issued. They are convenience summaries; they do not create legal status, establish a disability-related need, or replace the signed clinical document. Read the pricing page for the current fees and included items before deciding whether to continue.
